This site is my sandbox for stories and musings that I want to share that don’t have a home elsewhere.
I’ve written five books (currently querying the latest one), a comic book series, a tv pilot, and more short stories than you can shake a stick at (I imagine that’s a lot?).
I love literary stuff with hints of genre in there with a dash of magical realism. AKA I like my world to be very grounded …and then weird stuff that you can’t quite place your finger on starts to crop up in the world, whether it be a thriller, a horror, or what have you.
I also make visual art. I draw and paint. I abhore AI.
The act of creating pushes us to another plane and can transcend all the things we have experienced and the things we still hope to.
Good art builds the empathy that is needed to heal the world. Good fiction is one of the few things that can do this. I strive to write entertaining stories. Some are just for a cheap laugh. Some are to make us cry. They all give me something.
I’ve worn many hats—cook, soldier, bricklayer, COO, marketer, writer, and more. I’ve had the fortune to travel globally and live overseas for work. My travels have shown me that kindness is universal, albeit fragile. We’re all fundamentally the same underneath the skin, less the strange constructs we build for ourselves, pushed on us through time, fear, society, traditions, etc.
I write for a living, which is absolutely insane. I feel so lucky. But often I’m ghostwriting for others. I’ve written so many case studies, magazine articles, blogs, video scripts, reports, etc, that have moved the needle in someone else’s business. I’m good at what I do. But it’s not me. Authentic me gets muddled in the pursuit of marketing someone else’s business.
I live in Williamsburg, VA, and am a father of three kids (four, counting the dog). I write full-time and have spent over a decade ghostwriting. In fiction, I primarily write thriller, speculative, and horror. I’m a member of the James River Writers Association, the IAPWE, the AWP, and am currently earning an MFA in Creative Writing at Drexel University (graduating in two weeks). Recently, I’ve had a horror story published in Flash Phantoms, Nat 1 Publishing’s Gaslamp Pulp, and Folio Literary. My artwork has been used as the cover of Tension Literary.
